Introduce yourself here! (was formerly the totally non-political etc etc discussion)

Hi.

Jesse brought an interesting point up in a comment she made on my profile.
She said that she's been attempting to spark conversation amongst the natives, and has yet to have much success. I, personally, have had a few bites here and there, but not nearly as much as I'd imagined considering the type of 'social network' this is. There are 134 itchy people here. We need some action ya'll.

So.
An idea struck me, being that I'm a newbie here, and I am at a personal loss as to how to get to know you all at a pace faster than a snail going uphill in January.
As well as for all those other newbies I've seen join since my own recent birth into your community...

Perhaps an 'Introduce yourself here' thread / discussion would be a good start.
Whaddya say, Itchy ones? Care to know the mysteries behind your fellow itch'ers?

I do.

So, flame me, tell me to stfu, agree with me as you will.
Just say something, anything at all. darn it.

Sincerely
-Yours truly.

P.S. With the sky falling, and all the other good stuff happening in the world, I also thought it might be nice to think / post something slightly more 'fun' than those topics that have been so overwhelmingly noteworthy as of late.

But then again, maybe you all prefer to remain Anon E. Mous?

P.S.S. I apologize if this has already been done and I'm late to the game, but I did look through all the discussions and found nothing of the sort.

In my case, there isn't much to tell. I'm a 22 year old single mom with a wonderful 2 year old son. I'm vegan and am raising him vegan. I graduated college once with an associate's degree in Music Industry, then took some classes as an accounting major, switched to being a nursing major, and now I'm taking a break from "real" college to attend an audio engineering school. Eventually I will apply for clinicals and become an RN, or at least give myself the option of working as a nurse (for purely practical reasons). Sound engineering is my real passion; it just doesn't tend to pay well or be an easy field to break into. Blame my need to get straight A's and my inability to sit down and shut up when it comes to politics on the fact that I was homeschooled K-12 if you like; I'm proud of it.

AWESOME.
I'm not vegan, I'm veggie, and I homeschool mine.
And sound in every aspect is the love of my life, thankless, and pay-less or not.
Sounds like you n me will get on very well, m'dear.
It is a pleasure to meet you, and thank you kindly for your post.

I look forward to excellent friendships with you all. :)

Amen! be proud, its a wonderful thing. I commend you on your stalwart nature. Good luck with your two year old, and if you don't mind me asking, why vegan?

I am Ken Barbera, like Hanna-Barbera but no relation. I'm a senior in highschool in Jersey and get by mostly like the rest of highschoolers do. I wish to become a film-maker and hope to attend NYU next fall. Wiffleball is the shit and I enjoy a good backyard game. Most people would called me a nerd - i'm into computers, techy things, star wars, etc... haha - but i also delve into the mind/pysche a little. I'm big on the "why of the what" and i feel that knowing the cause to anything is the best way to handle a situation. Extremely rational..um, i do like lasagna

As far as politics and the itch are concerned...well, i really do hate politics. Haha, just the way things are run today is a real pain in the ass but i suppose the rest of the site is what that topic is for

DF is a real inspiration to get out and do something, along with everyone here to back up the causes. Where I am in Jersey there really isn't much of a movement for the defect of the old way of doing things so to be surrounded by a bunch of free thinkers is a plus

I'm sure you'll all get to know me better through time and it's good to have met those on the site

-Cheers-

Cool idea.

I'm a wanna-be chef, as if that's not obvious from the name. Not by trade, just in the privacy of my own kitchen. I cook, I clean, I listen to punk rock (and pretty much a bit of everything else). I also read and write. Although it's more reading than writing these days.

My weirdness: I own a car I never drive. I bike and walk. I've been living like that for over a year now. Although I'm a sucker for long distance roadtrips. I have a nice TV in my living room that I only use when I'm going to bed. Pop in a DVD, set the timer to turn off after a certain amount of time, and that's how I fall asleep... on the couch... not in the nice bed in the nice bedroom. It's my weirdness. I also believe I own too much crap, which is odd because the only thing I buy these days is food.

I happened upon here because a few weeks back while clicking around on Youtube I stumble on a Davis Fleetwood video and became hooked. I liked the message, the rapid fire delivery and the editing. It's some of the best produced things I've seen on youtube.

You know if you think about it on a theoretical base being a chef doesn't require anyone to give a shiny sticker and a slap on the back saying, "Congratulations! through a process of tedious and arduous tasks you completed we now feel like you are really really a chef! woo!" I believe that you are only a chef if you believe you are. you don't have to be a wanna-be-chef. but then again who wants to be a chef anyway. I think wanna-be- is a much better title than world renowned any day.

Well, I lack the knife handling skills that my chef friends (by trade) have. I tend to rely on my food processor to do my mincing and cubing for me. Then again, who needs knife handling when you're only cooking for three? I've got most of the other skills that matter.

Knife skills in my opinion are only about ten percent of cooking skill. Something not totally necessary, honestly I'd say the mincing machine is rather handy and it probably makes life rather easy. But I bet you are a wonderful chef, what do your test subjects have to say? I'm sure you're a wonderful chef ^^
