OPERATION ITCH

Introduce yourself here! (was formerly the totally non-political etc etc discussion)

Hi.

Jesse brought an interesting point up in a comment she made on my profile.
She said that she's been attempting to spark conversation amongst the natives, and has yet to have much success. I, personally, have had a few bites here and there, but not nearly as much as I'd imagined considering the type of 'social network' this is. There are 134 itchy people here. We need some action ya'll.

So.
An idea struck me, being that I'm a newbie here, and I am at a personal loss as to how to get to know you all at a pace faster than a snail going uphill in January.
As well as for all those other newbies I've seen join since my own recent birth into your community...

Perhaps an 'Introduce yourself here' thread / discussion would be a good start.
Whaddya say, Itchy ones? Care to know the mysteries behind your fellow itch'ers?

I do.

So, flame me, tell me to stfu, agree with me as you will.
Just say something, anything at all. darn it.

Sincerely
-Yours truly.

P.S. With the sky falling, and all the other good stuff happening in the world, I also thought it might be nice to think / post something slightly more 'fun' than those topics that have been so overwhelmingly noteworthy as of late.

But then again, maybe you all prefer to remain Anon E. Mous?

P.S.S. I apologize if this has already been done and I'm late to the game, but I did look through all the discussions and found nothing of the sort.

Hi there, 33 yr old still holding out some minute vestige of hope that the Democrats may do something good for this country, but I'm not real confident. Disgraced and disheartened how this last administration ruined this country. Can't get behind Nader due to his reluctance to form a viable third party in between each election, which he seems to be the most viable candidate in history to pull off, in addition to him not having a problem accepting signatures and cash for his run in '04. He can take a flying leap as far as I'm concerned. Davis is a dreamboat too.

Hi hi everyone! Pretty impressive group (either that or ya'll are CIA agents with really good cover stories). I'm 39, no kids, 8 cats, and afraid a plane will fall on my head (childhood nightmare). Did I mention 8 cats? Anyone want a kitten... or four? Currently unemployed for health reasons, but formerly a news producer, editor, writer, graphic designer, and computer programmer. Pretty much an electronic geek who can organize other electronic geeks.

DON'T GET RID OF YOUR CATS! they will protect you I swear! if a plane threatens to fall on your head they will make a kitty barrier of awesomeness and deflect the evil plane. plus cats are just wonderful inspiration, need a sonnet? ask a cat.

I'm Kat, I'm 24 years old and a carpetbagger, as well as wicked geek and proud of it. I firmly hold the belief that politics is a drug (much like Spider Jerusalem does in Transmetropolitan): Politics is wonderful, terrible, it's infuriating, it's a rush and thrilling, it takes over your life and destroys relationships with your friends & family, and once you start you can't ever stop it.

Mkay. I love that you are so passionate about politics but I have a question for you. Why is politics like that? why is it a rush and thrilling and life destroying?

I think Kat's view of politics is so passionate because she is a "heavy user," very addicted. :)She is one of quite a few wonderful people I got to know working on Dennis Kucinich's presidential campaign last year who packed up and left her home to go on the road with the campaign. She's totally dedicated like that--addicted to the rush of politics--but it can be such a downer when you don't win! Love you, Kat--and good luck!!

Politics sucks you into it - you can't go back to just being uninformed when you know things like "our government is torturing people and getting away with it," or "we have military in our police force who's chain of command is linked to the president and the president has his own treasury to do with as he sees fit"

Okay. Hello all, my name is David Rocha. I'm a 26 year-old male from Providence, Rhode Island. I am the manager of a local pizza place. I am the producer and vocalist of GlassAndSteel, a hip-hop act. I am a founding/board member of GreaterCity:Providence, an urban-development advocacy non-profit. I am an avid believer in the benefits of yoga and meditation. I am also of Azorean descent. I am fond of long strings of simple, boring, self-descriptive statements. I plan to run for elected office during the next election cycle. I plan to run on a post-depression, budget-spending reform platform, where I can take advantage of the catastrophic decline in people's standard of living and re-prioritize the financial role of local government. Hopefully, this will allow me to more strongly steer local funds towards mass-transit infrastructure, energy production, and incentives to re-densify the population, reverse suburban sprawl, and push for a return to local food production. In essence, I'm hoping to help cultivate a truly sustainable populace in the most easily managable metropolitan area. Anyway.......

I found my way here through Mr. Trainor's work as "Davis Fleetwood", he's been one of the most entertaining parts of my routine for the past year or so. I'm happy to be part of this network. I'm hoping that it blossoms into something productive. I have high hopes. Ta-daaaaah!

I suppose i should properly introduce myself now so here goes hi i am from Sacremento (formerly jupiter) California i am a buddhist and i am an 11 year old who does not know much yet but i still have a political opinion i have no occupation (of course) i do believe however that maybe a good president may come soon i hope so at least. Living being one of the few educated people my age is difficult but for discovering things the documentary zeitgeist is incredibly informative that is where i learned many frightening things though i don't know that much yet i will become smarter.

Hey there. It's great to read everyone's posts and learn about this great network we're building. I'm 26 years old and live in Olympia, Washington, a wonderful haven of hippie, progressive people. Last fall, I moved to New Hampshire to work for Dennis Kucinich on his presidential campaign. That's where I met our friend Davis Fleetwood, as he was hired by the campaign for his unique video blogging skills and style, I guess (?). :) Davis and Kat and everyone else I met who worked for Dennis Kucinich were incredible people who sacrificed a lot to work for the ideals Dennis spoke of. I'm glad to continue networking with people who share similar values here at Operation Itch.

Now, I work for the Nisqually River Foundation, doing networky stuff with state and federal agencies, Indian tribes and local property owners to manage and protect the Nisqually River watershed, which lies between Mt Rainier and Puget Sound. I get to do community outreach and help with environmental education, planting projects and even salmon spawning. I love it!

When I was about 7 years old I decided that I had to dedicate myself to "saving the environment" because the grown-ups weren't doing a very good job--so, that's what I'm trying to do, a little bit everyday. :-)
I'm still addicted to politics, but it's driving me nuts. I don't know what to hope for now. I don't like Obama much--an very frustrated that our choices have been limited so much--am tempted by Nader and McKinney, but I really don't know what I'm going to do.

Thanks for the invitation to post here. Anyone else? Please say hi!

Hi. I've always thought it would be cool to work for a local environmental cause. I like the outdoors (I camp, I bike, I walk/hike, fish among other outdoorsy stuff) and I believe that strong preservation of our wild places and water sources are things that everyone should be behind.

Good to meet you.
