What I care

There seems to be a troubling reaction to a repeated dictum - the recoiling, ironicizing reaction. Your country is a single policy, two party state on the whole, but there are some things that your previous administration ended up doing that Obama would not. Like him or not, he operates on a higher level of sophistication than your last rat. Here's a link to the story of Binyam Mohammed from a 2005 BBC report:

I don't know if it'll work where you are, but here's hoping. He was released today. Today. That's four years after this report - over a thousand days later. You think a week a work's a long time, then you look back and realise you've been at the same place for a year - well, that ain't nothin'. But he was released thanks to the efforts of people much like yourselves and to the sea change in your government. With continued efforts to be seen and heard by authorities keen to distance themselves from their predecesors, similarly wronged folks like Rose and Hasam can be helped.
