Bush is Over-Pick Myself Up
Report Fm Washington.

RI Progressive Democrats of America state report Inauguration Blog

Washinton DC was a transformed town and seemed relieved to be. Republicans showed up in droves politely mixing with a very excited Multi-Ethinc crowd that blended well and was open, clearly speaking their minds. With two Woodstocks converging on Washington, the usually zealous DC & Capitol police took note of the match of forces, however it we clear that there was a new boss in town and it was a universal collective sigh of relief- Bush is over!

However, true to Neo-Con Journalist Standards, Ultra-right Washington Times James Morrison connected a few dots that may not be connected- in a way of punctuating how it wasn't going to be easy to with the current state of the consolidated media as a formitable dis-information counterweight. Morrison wrote on his Inaugeration Blog (POSTED January 20 2009 12:27 PM)

"One of the most quotable lines from President Obama's inaugural address" was when Obama said "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America." True enough but wait Morrison next supposes-source please- " was likely inspired from a Depression-era musical comedy called "Swing Time"with the lines- "Nothing's impossible I have found/ For when my chin is on the ground/ I pick myself up/ Dust myself off/ And start all over again."(lyrics by Dorothy Fields/ music by Jerome Kern)."

Good try but likely the wrong era. It is hard to imagine the Obama's swooning to Fred & Ginger In the 1936 film, singing a duet. This is more likely a pipe dream of the dusty aging WT crowd who have been redefinine what the real definition of real is for too many years. It is more likely that he was his listening to Peter Tosh, Reggae songwriter and original member of The Wailers( AKA Bob Marley & the Wailers) when he & Michelle were Community Organizers.

Sittin' in the midday sun
And wondering where my meal's coming from
After working so hard
Not even piece of bread at the yard (Tenament yard)

Sounds a lot like the stories circulating Washington-serious need for change now.

But I got to
Pick myself up
Dust myself off
Start all over, again (CHORUS 2x)

The connection to the earlier swing era song makes it do what Barack does best- appeal to a wide range of people- but it was likely a neat after thought.
It appears to be true, Washington got exceptionally instantly civil, polite but clearly militantly dedicated masses were serious about expecting massive change- NOW, but willing to give Obama a few moths for his smart guys to work out the details.
The sharp elbow crowd seemed to be in Cheneys bunker, or tunnel system or whatever he built to disappear so easily.
Classy as ever, here Obama brings the survivor's of the Depression Era together with the Civil Rights Radicals of the '60's with a catchy, almost jingle line. If he didn't mean it that way chalk it up to Obama magic.

Congressmen John Conyers (D-MI) noted the difference & he has seen a lot of administrations come & go. Conservative Rebublicans retuned to their mild manner characters & seemed to be glad the war of terror approach is over ready for a more thought out approach. It was like a stadium group giant Obama Wave.

The Progressive Democrats of America was originally called the Democratic Boat.
Now that's a big boat!
