New York Times, now more Pentagon-y than ever
Same ol' same ol' for the Times, Cheney and the American sheeple.
Judith Miller was the NY Times correspondent that passed through, without any verification or actual journalism work, the Cheney/ Libby leaked disinformation on CIA agent Valerie Plame, Bogus Aluminum tubes in Iraq, false stories of Yellow cake from Niger and much more in pursuit of a reason to take over Iraq.
Judith Miller was forced to leave the Times in disgrace and was held in contempt of court and jailed for months for "nobly" refusing to reveal her sources of the bogus and illegal information.
Now the times is continuing as a conduit for disinfo for the Government. This time in the form of volleying the claims of an anonymous Pentagon source of an unverified, un-fact-checked 'report' about Terrorist recidivism. 800+ "suspects" were imprisoned for many years at Guantanamo without charges, evidence or existing legal grounds. 500-600 men and boys have been transferred out to other nations so far.
Now, after his reign of terror, Dick Cheney needed the press to 'report' evidence that his "enemy Combatant program was valuable and just.
So, here is a report that "1 in 7 former Guantanamo detainees has returned to terror activities". Based in thin air and a bastardization of evidence, the so-called report is a total farce. These released 'suspects' were never found guilty, never tried, never accused of any specific crimes as our laws have demanded for over 200 years.
As so many of these prisoners were merely innocents swept up in a dragnet-for-cash, they were subsequently tortured for YEARS in an attempt to get them to say they'd done something. Surviving that, with your mind intact is a miracle in itself. Those that survived sane will probably dislike the US for life. Wouldn't you? So "Returning" to terror activities is a lie as they had never done any terror activities before their torture-vacations.
Furthermore, the method of determining who has since engaged in teror activities is completely biased and based on hearsay.
These accusations are not admissible in a court of law and Cheney is now quoting them, just as he quoted Judith Miller in his drive to War(s) back in 2002-03.
Thank you NY Times. Thank you Pentagon. Thank you Cheney. And finally, thank you Mind-numbed masses that have been re-trained to ignore your inherent cognitive ability and your ability to smell bullshit and see propaganda.
